Hoover says the Z-700 is the worlds first SUV (Sport Utility Vacuum). I’d say it’s more like something out of War Of The Worlds. Despite thehoover z vacuum cleaner appearance, this modhoover z vacuum cleanerel has surely found its niche.

Features:

  • 20 ft. stretch hose
  • 35 ft. power cord
  • Telescopic wand with 360° rotating hose to eliminate kinking
  • Adjustable handle height
  • Pet hair cleaning tool with rotating brush
  • Brush automatically shuts off if it becomes jammed
  • Quiet operation

Z-fold design.
The z-fold design allows this Hoover to be used as an upright, or as a canister vacuum. Obviously, Hoover is attempting to give two different markets what they want with one vacuum cleaner. Is this a viable solution? That remains to be seen but I think it’s a good idea.

Self cleaning Hepa filter.
There is one major problem with the use of Hepa filters in vacuum cleaners; they are not designed for high velocity air flow. These filters where designed for use in clean rooms and trap very small particles with low velocity air flow. The amount of air flow required for a vacuum cleaner to work properly cannot be passed through a Hepa filter. Therefor, a percentage of the air must bypass the filter; which is something the manufacturers don’t tell you.

These filters also trap microscopic size particles, so imagine how fast they will clog from all the large dirt and debris being picked up from your carpet. The only way to solve the first problem is to use a different type of filter. However, Hoover has come up with a solution for the second. The Hoover U9145-900 Z 700 automatically cleans the filter every 6 seconds; which, in reality, is probably how many times it needs to be cleaned. There are other vacuum cleaners which use a much better suited filter and you will find them on this website.

Auto height adjustment.
The Hoover Z 700 has taken it’s cues from other brands and made it easy to switch from different types of carpets and from carpet to hard floors. You can quickly change the height from low to medium, or to high with the Digitouch™ control pad located near the handle. This pad also includes the power switch, hard surface mode, and gentle brush mode.

Wide cleaning head.
The Hoover Z-700 uses an extra wide, 15 inch, cleaning nozzle which will help you get the job done faster.

Low profile design.
For years, vacuum cleaner users have asked that manufacturers design a vacuum that will get under low objects like coffee tables and beds. Hoover has answered this call with a low profile design and a handle which will lay down to the floor without lifting the cleaning head.

Virtually Maintenance-Free Design.
The Hoover Z 700 requires no replacement of belts, bulbs, bags, or even the main filter.

Price comparisons.
Prices range from $273.00 up to $439.00 at the major retailers.

Vacuum reviews.
Pros:
Auto shut-off.
People like the fact that the brush shuts off if they inadvertently suck up a shoe string or something similar.

Good Stability.
This vacuum cleaner is very stable and will not tip over while using the extension hose and attachments.

Light brush setting.
The light brush setting allows you to vacuum those rugs without edges and fringes getting sucked into the brush.

Cons:
Bulky and heavy.
Weight is a serious issue with the Hoover Z-700. At approx. 25 lbs. this will be a major consideration for many. Many owners complain of arm and back pain after using this vacuum cleaners. If weight is an issue for you, or if you’ll need to lug the vacuum up and down the stairs, you may want to consider another vacuum.

Cannot replace filter.
According to Hoover, you should not have to replace the Hepa filter. However, if the occasion ever arises where you do, you’ll have to take the entire vacuum cleaner to a local service center.

Small debris canister.
Owners claim that the debris canister or container is very small and requires frequent emptying. Some owners also complain that the storage area for the cord is far to small making it difficult to store the cord.
