Well, here comes DC 24, Dyson's answer to the whole weight issue. At a little under 12 pounds, the DC 24 is tiny vacuum cleaner that packs mighty suction power. The Dyson DC24 still has everything that is good about Dyson vacuum cleaners. The only difference is that DC24 won't break your back.

The $400 DC24 still has the patented Root Cyclone Technology that can separate dust from air using strong centrifugal force. It will still clean the air you breathe, emitting air that has 150 times less mold and bacteria.

It also has all the other health-related features that Dyson is known for. It has the High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter that can suck in the smallest air pollutants. This Dyson upright is still highly recommended for people suffering from asthma and allergies.

It is still bag-free. So you don't have to worry about changing bags and coming into contact with the dirt you just collected. You also have the same motorized brush bar as in other Dyson models. This brush bar allows you to use extra suction when you need it. And most importantly, the DC24 can also conquer almost all surfaces. It can go over floor boards, carpets, even slate. It will pick up all the dirt and dust you want out of your house.

So what's new about DC24?

The Dyson DC24 upright vacuum cleaner prides itself on the maneuverability it offers. Looking at DC24, you would see that it sits on this big orange ball. This ball allows the unit to pivot, twist and turn with ease. By working the handle, you can easily maneuver the DC24 and it'll slide through all those awkward corners.

In addition, the size of this vacuum cleaner makes it ideal for cleaning under furniture as well as in between shelves and other tight areas. It is also light enough to be used on stairs. With little effort, you can simply carry the DC24 in one hand while letting the other hand control the hose.

With such a compact devise, storage is easy. With all the parts tucked away and the handle pushed in, the DC24 is under 30 inches high and less than 14 inches wide. This means you can store the entire unit under your kitchen sink.

But with everything, there are some drawbacks. Although the size is wonderful for your back and is amazing for storage, it does put limitations on your cleaning. The power cable is barely 20 feet so you may have to use extension cords. Also, the dust bin is only 1 liter so you have to empty it quite often. The DC24 "The Ball" is not something that's ideal for a big house or for businesses. It is best for smaller flats and apartments.

Then again, the $400 you paid for is not really for extreme durability. You're paying for the DC24's ability to swivel in and out of corners, for its portability and for its ability to maintain most of Dyson's best features without weighing 30 pounds.
